Dr. David Holland
Originally beginning his practice in Chatham, IL., Dr. David Holland has been with Vision Care Associates since 1989. Growing up in Galesburg, IL., he received his undergraduate degree at Drake University, then went on to the Southern College of Optometry, getting his doctorate in 1986.
Dr. Holland is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, and the Mid-State Optometric Society. He is TPA and DPA certified, providing complete family eye care, including contact lenses and treatment of eye disease. He is also involved in various volunteer activities throughout central Illinois.
Dr. Holland resides in Springfield with his wife Tamra along with their two children, Stephen and Bradley.
Dr. Andrew Clark
Joining the practice in 1996, Dr. Andrew Clark is a Springfield native. He graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1977 and from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1983.
After serving as chief optometrist at USAF hospital, Davis- Monthan AFB AZ., Dr. Clark returned to Springfield in 1986. Dr. Clark is TPA and DPA certified and has special interests in contact lenses and sports vision. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, and the Mid-State Optometric Society. Dr. Clark is associated locally with Catholic Charities clinic as well as volunteering his time to the Springfield High School booster club.
He lives in Springfield with wife Marilyn and two children Kristen and Thomas.
Dr. Michael J. Bruce
Dr. Michael J. Bruce joined Vision Care Associates in 2003. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Millikin University, and graduated Cum Laude from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness, and the Mid-State Optometric Society. He also volunteers his time with Catholic Charities, Brother James Court and the Springfield Rotary Club. Dr. Bruce provides complete family eye care, including contact lenses and treatment of eye disease with an emphasis in glaucoma.
Originally from Taylorville, he currently resides in Springfield with his wife, Nikki, and two sons, Canon and Kai.
Dr. Scott Blomberg
Dr. Scott Blomberg joined Vision Care in June 2006 providing complete family eye care including fitting of contact lenses for astigmatism and bifocal contact lenses as well as treatment of eye diseases.
In addition, Dr. Blomberg provides vision rehabilitation examinations for patients who have "low vision" which is vision that can not be adequately corrected with glasses.
Dr. Blomberg earned his bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Bradley University in 1996 and his Doctor of Optometry degree from Ohio State University in 2000. After earning his doctorate, Dr. Blomberg served for three years as a Captain and optometrist with the United States Army.
During this service, he deployed with the 101st Airborne Division to Kosovo in 2001 and Iraq in 2003. He was one of four U.S. Army eye doctors stationed forward during the initial conflict, providing eye care for both American and Iraqi casualties.
Dr. Blomberg earned his Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 2001 and is also involved in several optometric organizations and volunteer organizations including his local church, the Springfield Lion's Club, and Catholic Charities. Dr. Blomberg and his wife Kimberly live in Springfield with their two children Logan and Faith.
Dr. Shaun Hill
Dr. Shaun Hill joined Springfield Vision Care Associates in January of 2008. He has practiced in Springfield for the past 18 years. He practices full scope optometric care with a special interest in Family Eye Care including Contact Lenses, Low Vision services, and Sports Vision.
Dr. Hill is fully certified in both Diagnostic and Therapeutic Ocular medications. Dr. Hill graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Doctor of Optometry Degree from Indiana University School of Optometry in 1990. Dr. Hill has participated in many civic activities including Rotary Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Adult Chapter, member of Cherry Hills Baptist Church, coaching youth in football and donating services to Catholic Charities as well as Optometric mission trips to Haiti and Mexico.
He is a member in the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association, and past President of the Mid-State Optometric Society. Dr. Hill and his wife Shari reside in Springfield with their five children, Sarah, Jonathon, Robby, Maki, and Ruthie.
Dr. Wendy Van Houten
Dr. Wendy Van Houten, originally a native of Springfield, joined Vision Care in July 2008. Dr. Van Houten received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, and completed graduate course work in biology as well.
She graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree with Honors from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. While attending IU, Dr. Van Houten took part in corneal endothelial research for the University, as well as, taught human gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, and ocular anatomy to first-year optometry students.
Before joining Vision Care, she worked in southern Illinois for a medical clinic focusing on pre-operative and post-operative cataract/refractive surgery care.
Dr. Van Houten provides contact lens fittings and family eye care for all ages with a special interest in pediatrics, as well as, diagnosis and treatment of corneal diseases and glaucoma. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Illinois Optometric Association, and she is a volunteer optometrist with the Springfield Catholic Charities clinic. Dr. Van Houten currently resides in Springfield with her husband, Kevin, and their daughter, Hannah.
